We have Sake Importer Niigata Selections presenting. Niigata Sake Selections (NSS) was established in 2004 by Ataru Kobayashi to bring the concept of regionality in sake into the US by importing premium sake exclusively from breweries within the Niigata[nee- gut-ah] prefecture. NSS launched in 2005 with 18 sakes made by 11 breweries - all artfully hand selected by Ataru Kobayashi.  Today NSS represents 15 breweries, 50+ sakes.

Niigata Mission Statement-At Niigata Sake Selections, we are dedicated to introducing American consumers to the exceptional quality and rich traditions of premium sake from Japan. Since our founding in 2004 by Ataru Kobayashi, we have focused on bringing the concept of regionality to the US market by exclusively importing sake from the renowned Niigata Prefecture. This region, celebrated for its superior rice and sake production, is home to small, family-run breweries that prioritize quality and craftsmanship.

Our mission is to elevate the appreciation of sake by highlighting the unique characteristics of Niigata’s “Tanrei Karakuchi” style—refined, light, and dry. We aim to educate and inspire consumers, offering them a deeper understanding of the diverse flavors and traditions that distinguish sake by region. We strive to make premium sake a staple in American dining culture, ensuring that every bottle we import tells the story of the people, place, and artistry behind it.
