Columbia Valley, Washington, $24.99
This might be the perfect wine for red wine drinkers! It's viscous and rich without being buttery. Roussanne is a bit player in the world of Washington whites but this wine shows that, in the right site and in the right hands, the Rhone-native grape can excel here. Beeswax and honeysuckle flavors coat the palate and lead to an extended finish that only adds to the enjoyment. This was sourced from the Olson Brothers vineyard in Prossser, and fourth generation farmers there. The wine opens with aromas of lychee, white peach, Gravenstein apple and hints of tangerine. There are flavors of white peach, honeysuckle and orange marmalade. This wine has fabulous texture and weight.
A mainstay in the SoDo district of Seattle, Structure Cellars was founded by Brian and Brandee Grasso — great people that make great wine. Brian got his start in the restaurant industry where he caught the wine bug and later served as cellar rat at Baer and also interned under the iconic guidance of Chris Sparkman of Sparkman Cellars before starting his own winery. Brian is humble, knowledgeable and a downright awesome guy to talk wine with. 125 cases made.
