La Chanterelle

Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Wahluke Slope, Washington, $29.99

Local favorites, Donatas and Lotte Freeman over on "G" Street, continue to impress us with this latest new release.  The timing couldn't be more perfect for this full-blown, ripe style Cabernet Sauvignon. An amazing wine like this coming from a basement project not 5 minutes away from our front door and often delivered by bicycle is sure to make good table talk.  Urban power to the people!

It's not too late to be thinking about holiday gatherings or that hand chosen gift bottle. This Cab has all the elements to handle the task. Being a basement project, the quantity is TINY.  A grand total of only five barrels, 140 cases, were produced.  When presenting this wine Donatas was a little concerned about how quickly it might go.
Don't hesitate on this home grown winner of impressive quality.

In his own words- "I love it so much that I often compare with a hummingbird, it attempts to dance on your palate, flies away and suddenly comes back to linger for a bit longer with it's magical beauty and determination.  Enjoy the good things in life." Kindly, Donatas.

"This excellent wine shows great terroir with sagebrush, black tea, chocolate covered cherry and roasted figs. The palate shows really good viscosity and lift. Creme de cassis mocha, sweet pipe tobacco, blackberry cobbler and sagebrush flavors all impress. Seriously good, this decadent treat will cellar well over the next decade or more. Drink 2018-2030.
