Grüner Veltliner "Weinviertel" 2017
Weinviertel, Austria, $22.99

The oldest wine growing districtus in Austria, the Weinviertel DAC, is where Ingrid Groiss calls home.  Hailing from the town of Breitenwaida, in northeast Austria, near the border with the Czech Republic, Ingrid crafts wines expressive of terroir, keeping with her family’s long tradition of winemaking. She is supremely passionate about her wines, with sustainable practices in the vineyard and minimal interference of modern technologies in the cellar. In the Weinviertel, Grüner Veltliner prevails, and Ingrid’s wines express a relentless connection to the land, soil, and place. The sparse löss soils mixed with gravel and sand imparts these wines with a distinctive minerality.

Shiny golden with green nuances, fresh yellow and juicy fruits, red ripe pomegranate, yellow apple and elegant white blossom, full-bodied and mineralic on the palate, lively structure and acidity as well as a long finish.

The Grüner Veltliner Weinviertel DAC is regarded as an all-rounder: The structure and minerality of this wine harmonizes perfectly with meat dishes. The wine ́s fresh fruit- and citric aromas also make deliciously delightful complements to seafood or Asian dishes. The same is true for vegetable dishes and dishes with white meat.
