90% Sangiovese Grosso, 10% Canaiolo Nero 2013
Tuscany, Italy, $34.99
"The stunning bouquet of ripe black cherry, black currant, leather and woodsy spice notes is enticing, while the sweet fruit is a match for the dense structure. The lengthy finish lingers, with tobacco, eucalyptus and iron accents"
Don't be confused, this isn't Montepulciano from Abrruzzo. This is full on Tuscany under the sun Sangiovese. For some reason it get's lost behind Chianti and Brunello. Don't let that happen. This is fabulous stuff for the holidays.
Named for the Renaissance town of Montepulciano, the term nobilehas historical roots in the original practice of reserving this wine exclusively for the aristocratic families of the area. Carpineto’s Vino Nobile is produced from fruit harvested exclusively from their Montepulciano Estate.
