Celebrating Southern Rhone Crus
Saturday 2-4 pm.
December 21, 2019
What do Gigondas, Vacqueryas, Lirac, Tavel, Cairanne and Chateauneuf-du-Pape have in common? They are all Crus of the Southern Rhone wine region of France, wine of popes and kings! As a whole, they share a lusciousness of fruit, fiery spice and earth characteristics.
Today, nine cru appellations span the region, each offering unique wines that express the Southern Rhône’s varied terroirs. While Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the original cru of the Southern Rhône, advances in viticulture and winemaking have blurred the lines between this appellation and its lesser-known and less expensive neighbors. The other eight crus of the Southern Rhone are Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Tavel, Lirac, Cairanne, Rasteau, Beaume de Venise, and Vinsobres.
What better way to celebrate the holiday season? Join in the festivities by tasting a selection of these great wines from this famed region.
2:00-4:00pm December 21, 2019 No fee tasting.
