Teutonic Wine Company
"Pigs and Swords" White 2016
Willamette Valley, Oregon
Teutonic Wine Company is a small-production winery that strives to make the finest German-style wines in Oregon. The climate in Germany’s Mosel region, famed for producing some of the world’s finest Rieslings, is ideal because of its cooler growing climate which allows the fruit to hang longer on the vines without over ripening. A longer hang time gives the fruit more time to pull up complex flavors from the soil. Therefore, the vineyard sites Teutonic sources its fruit in Oregon are located in cooler areas and at higher elevations.
This white wine is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Muller Thurgau and 5% Chasselas. It's ever-so-slightly pink in color with beautiful aromatics from the Muller and Chassealas- candied fruit, lemon/lime zest and bright citrus notes. Then, coming from the Pinot Noir, you get earthy cherry flavors blending beautifully with the other side. Basically this wine gives you the best of both worlds.
