Rossi di Valtellina 2013
Valtelina, Lombardy, Italy
This is a wine to drink when Piedmont reds call your name.
This producer from the alpine foothills of Valtellina, Northern Italy's Lombardy region, is pure Nebbiolo expression. The abbreviation in the name stands for Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, a fifth generation vigneron. This wine posses such a beautiful presence. It leans toward delicate Pinot Noirs from Burgundy, France more than any thing else.
Delicate and precise aromatics of small red berry fruits, sparks of citrus all intermixed with savory earth elements. Very high toned and super bright. High altitude Nebbiolo has a voice and we want to hear it. Look for us to be bringing in more from this zone.
