Steele Wines-Mendocino, California
Saturday 2-4 pm.
April 28, 2018
Sir Jed Steele is celebrating his 48th year in the California wine biz this year. From his start as a cellar worker at Stony Hill in Napa Valley in 1968, to starting Edmeades in the Anderson Valley and being there for ten years, to then starting Kendall-Jackson and working there for the first nine vintages of that wildly successful winery (he left the year when they broke the million cases per year production mark), to the start of his own project-STEELE Wines in 1991-it has been an incredible ride. He built his reputation on Chardonnay, but Zinfandel is his love. Jed also has a foot in the northwest. Graduate of Gonzaga, later he was part of the opening wine making team for Northstar with Gordy Hill. He still represents Washington with 2 wines; an Aligote and a red Lemberger called after the correct Austrian name Blaufrankish. Quincy Steele, Jed’s son is now in the operation. Not only helping with the Steele and Shooting Star labels, he has is own called Writer’s Block. Quincy has a noticeable different style focusing on all Lake County vineyards. And you can’t beat the pricing on cool the varietals like Roussane, Cunoise, and Cabernet Franc.
Come in and taste a great line-up of Steele, Shooting Star and Writer’s Block wines. The line-ip will be presented by Matthew McKinnon, Unique Wine Company
Saturday, April 28th. 2-4 pm. This event is free!
